Last Saturday about 200 people attended The Big Band Bash at Catawba College.

After a concert in Hedrick Auditorium, guests and musicians alike proceeded to the Crystal Lounge, where there was plenty of food — and lots more music, directed by David Hagy.

This was the ninth year for the popular event, which is a fundraiser for the Salisbury Symphony.

"The dance floor was full for practically every dance," said organizer Dotty Clement.

"When the band stopped playing for the evening, no one wanted to leave."

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
