RCCA student art show at Railwalk Galleries

The public is invited to view the artwork of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College students at the third annual RCCC Student Autumn Exhibition, Nov. 13-21.

Hosted and supported by the Rowan Arts Council, pieces in the RCCC Autumn Exhibition will be on display at the Rail Walk Studios and Gallery, 409 N. Lee St., in Salisbury.

A reception will be held Friday, Nov. 13 from 6-8 p.m., at the gallery. The public is welcome to attend free of charge. Normal gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Gallery admission is free.

The exhibition is a partnership of the Arts Council and RCCC and allows students to show their work in a professional setting. The Rail Walk Gallery, located in Salisbury's growing downtown art district, also is a sponsor of this year's exhibition.

RCCC art instructors Jonathan Church and Jenn Selby encourage all interested students to enter the exhibition. Works represent various media, including painting, photography, drawing, sculpture and new media. The 2009 exhibition will display the work of 30 students, half of whom are associate in fine arts (AFA) degree majors. The artwork will be for sale, with all of the money going to the individual artists.

The exhibit is presented by the Rowan Arts Council with support from their sponsors, the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency of the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
