The music company Music Go Round recently launched a contest to find the 12 best unsigned bands in the United States and local band American Rock Project was named January's "Band of the Month."
The band consists of members Chris Whitman, lead vocals and guitar, Shannon Hall, drums and vocals, Council Bradshaw, lead guitar and vocals, and Ean Bartholomew, bass. They have played together for the past 15 years, spending the past three years under the name American Rock Project.
In order to win the contest, American Rock Project had to encourage their fans to vote for them on the Music Go Round website (www.musicgoround.com).
Their band made it to the semi-finals in November and received the most votes in December, landing them the spot as the January Band of the Month. With this honor, they have been featured exclusively on the Music Go Round website for the entire month of January, allowing the nation to listen to their featured song.
American Rock Project is the first band from the East Coast to win this honor.
You can give them a listen at www.myspace.com/americanrockproject.
