Rowan Public Library presents 'Rhythm Nights'

Robert Jones brings stories to life at the first of RPL's Rhythm Nights on Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Rowan Public Library and the Rowan Arts Council present “Rhythm Nights,” a lively series of storytelling, music, dance and poetry, with performances from local and regional performers and open mic readings from the community.

The first in the series will be held at the East Branch in Rockwell on Tuesday, Jan. 24 from 6:30 - 8 p.m., and features a musical performance by local musicians Michael and Gaynell Lambert, and a storytelling session with the library’s own Robert Jones.

In addition, local poetry clubs, groups, and individuals are invited to attend and present their work during the open mic time. The event is free and appropriate for all ages, and refreshments will be served.

More ‘Rhythm Nights’ events coming up in

February and March

Tuesday, Feb. 7, 6:30- 8 pm, at the South Rowan Regional Library in China Grove, featuring Obakunle Akinlana with storytelling and drums, and Robert Howle playing classical guitar, followed by open mic readings from the community.

Tuesday, March 13, 6:30 - 8 p.m., at the South Rowan Regional Library in China Grove, featuring Willa Brigham’s storytelling, local musicians, and followed again with open mic readings from the community.
