The Salisbury Symphony’s popular fund-raiser, the Big Band Bash, is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 7.

The band kicks off at 7:30 p.m. in Hedrick Auditorium at Catawba College with the music of Benny Goodman, Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller — all the big names that made “big” band music big!

The event begins at 6:45 p.m. with a glass of champagne and hors d ‘oeuvres in the Hedrick lobby before guests will head into the auditorium at 7:30 for a 45-minute concert.

Afterwards, everyone – band members and audience – will cross the patio to the Peeler Crystal Lounge to continue the music, this time with room for dancing, refreshments and conversation.

Again this year, free dance lessons are offered to the first 30 who buy tickets and express interest. Lessons will be taught by Diana Moghrabi today and Friday early evenings before the event. Please call Diana at 704-638-5240 for more information.

For more information about the Salisbury Symphony’s Big Band Bash, call Barb Sorel at 704-707-8931 or the symphony office at 704-637-4314.
