A Lexington man has been charged with 75 felony counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny, and is currently in the Rowan County jail under a $75,000 secured bond.
The arrest comes after an investigation into numerous reports of cars being broken into and items taken from the vehicles.
According to Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Benjamin Jacob Creech, of 1026 Riverview Blvd., Lexington, was charged after deputies say he was found using a stolen golf cart to ride around and break into vehicles along Old Concord Road and around Peeler and Webb roads.
Evidence was collected at the crime scenes, and the Sheriff’s Office was able to identify Creech as the suspect in all of the crimes.
Creech has an extensive history of arrests for breaking and entering motor vehicles, and has served time in prison.
Anyone with additional information into these crimes is asked to contact Lt. Chad Moose, Det. Teresa Haupt, or Det. Carl Dangerfield at 704-216-8700.
