SALISBURY — A 44-year-old Salisbury man was arrested Monday after Rowan County detectives said he had online chats with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl.

Jeffery Eugene Fisher, of 2411 Wedgewood Drive, was charged with two counts of felony indecent liberties with children, according to arrest warrants.

Deputies said Fisher, a wheelchair-bound man, was released on a written promise to appear in court.

The investigation began in late August, according to the report, after the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office was notified by an outside organization that monitors potentially predatory online comments. Detectives said they spoke with Fisher using an undercover chat persona on Sept. 19 and Sept. 20.

He was scheduled in court this morning for a first appearance.
