Man robbed at knife point on Park Avenue

SALISBURY — A 49-year-old Salisbury man was robbed near the intersection of Park Avenue and Shaver Street Tuesday night.

Salisbury Police said two men pulled a knife on the man as he walked by the Park Avenue United Methodist Church about 8 p.m.

Officers said the men first asked the 49-year-old if he had a cigarette.

As the man pulled out his cigarette pack, officers said, the two men approached with an eight- to 10-inch knife and demanded his wallet.

The man handed them the $30 that was in the wallet, but the men then asked him what else he had.

Officers said the man gave them a bottle of Percocet, a prescription pain reliever, and a bottle of Clonazepam, a prescription anxiety medication.

Police said the first man was described as a black man, 30 to 35 years old. He was listed about 6-foot-1 and 190 to 200 pounds, and was wearing a black jacket with fur around the edges of its hood and white markings around the cuff.

The second suspect, who was carrying the knife, was described as a 30- to 35-year-old black male. He was about 5-foot-7 and around 160 to 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket and had black tennis shoes.
