CHINA GROVE — Two China Grove residents were charged Tuesday night after officers said they quickly turned around at a traffic stop on Old Concord Road.
Officers found 29-year-old Amy Lambert in the passenger seat and the driver, Richard Gilley, in the car.
Gilley told officers he thought the traffic stop was a wreck, but didn’t have his license with him.
As a deputy went to write Gilley a citation for not having his license, the officer noticed a plastic bag with four blue pills inside.
Deputies searched Lambert and found two additional pills, identical to the first, which were found to be alprazolam or Xanax.
Gilley, 27, was charged with felony possession of narcotics. Lambert was charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture narcotics.
Both were released after posting bond.
