SALISBURY — A convicted sex offender followed a woman around Kmart Saturday night while touching himself, police said.

Perry Quinton Simmons, 48, was charged with indecent exposure after Salisbury Police officers caught him before he left the store, according to an arrest report.

Officers said video footage from the store matches witness statements on seeing Simmons walking around the store touching himself.

Loss prevention officers contacted police and stopped Simmons as he began walking toward the store’s exit.

Simmons’ address was listed as the streets of Salisbury.

He was released in 2008 after serving more than 14 years in prison on a rape conviction.

He was placed under a $5,000 bond.
