Suspect in custody after woman robbed near Fulton Street

SALISBURY — A Salisbury woman had a travel bag ripped from her arm as she walked from the train station to her home Thursday evening.

Salisbury Police said a man approached her near the intersection of Fisher and South Fulton streets after she got off an Amtrak train from Baltimore at 7:42 p.m.

The 51-year-old woman didn’t see the thief until she felt a pull on her arm and saw the man jerking the travel bag from her grasp.

The woman told police that the robber was in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a gray hoodie and with a slim build.

Officers searched the area and a K-9 unit was brought in.

About 30 minutes later, detectives found a man several blocks away matching the given description.

When police attempted to stop the man, an arrest report said, he fled on foot and was caught shortly after.

Police have not charged the man in relation to the robbery, but are continuing to investigate.

He was identified as 21-year-old Miguel Angel Urrutia and was charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer.

Urrutia, who did not provide a current address, was given a $3,500 bond.

In October 2011, Urrutia was shot in the stomach during a party at the VFW Post 3006 building at 1200 Brenner Ave.

The previous October, he was charged by Salisbury Police officers after authorities said he and another man attempted to rob a man at gunpoint at an ATM.
