Safrit Eagle Award
Lucas Ray Safrit, 16, son of Lewis and Patti Safrit of Salisbury, is receiving his Eagle Scout award today, Feb. 19, 2012, at Unity Presbyterian Church in Woodleaf. The award is presented by Rev. Don Safrit, Rev. Phil Hagen and Scoutmaster Lewis Safrit of Troop 328.
Presently the patrol leader for the Flaming Arrow Patrol, Lucas has earned 35 merit badges and is a member of Order of the Arrow. His Eagle project was designing and installing a prayer garden at Unity Presbyterian.
Lucas has volunteered as a day camp counselor for Cub Scouts; worked as a camp counselor at Camp John J. Barnhardt in 2011 and upcoming 2012; volunteers at N.C. Transportation Museum; is active in athletics and clubs at Carson High School, where he is a sophomore; and is a member of the youth group at Unity Presbyterian.
