Steinman Eagle Award
Gabe Steinman, 15, is receiving his Eagle Award today, Jan. 29, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church. Scoutmaster Henry Trexler of Troop 443 is presenting the award.
Currently serving as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 443, Gabe previously served as Historian, Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. Along with earning 36 merit badges, Gabe has been honored with the Scout Spirit Award in 2009 and the Scout of the Year Award in 2010. In 2009, he joined Order of the Arrow, BSA’s National Honor Society for experienced scouts.
Some of his scouting excursions included Mount Mitchell backpacking, biking at New River State Park in Virginia, attending summer camp for four years, including Camp Barnhardt and Camp Daniel Boone, and participating for 10 days in the 100th National Scout Jamboree at Fort AP Hill, Va.
Gabe’s Eagle project involved organizing 70 volunteers for a tree planting at Salisbury High School, where he is a freshman, on the “A” honor roll and a member of Key Club and Student Government Assoc.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, he is the son of Tim and Jenny Steinman of Salisbury and the grandson of Charles and Marna Steinman of Salisbury and Rodger and Andrea Ritter of Raleigh.
