Bloom Supermarkets has promoted Troy Leshko to vice president of retail operations.

He will oversee more than 60 Bloom stores in the Carolinas, Maryland and Virginia. His responsibilities include developing retail strategies and leading company initiatives, merchandising, recruiting, people development and talent planning, quality assurance, profitability and guest satisfaction.

He began his career with Food Lion in 1988 as a bagger and has served in a number of positions, including store manager, district manager, project manager and, most recently, as Bloom's director of strategy and innovation.

Leshko, his wife Tammy and their four children, Brandi, Amber, Justin and Jessica, live in Greensboro.

Bloom is a banner of Food Lion, a subsidiary of Brussels-based Delhaize Group.

East Coast Memorials in new building

After being in business for nearly four years, Dwight Garrison and Quintin Wilson have moved East Coast Memorials LLC into a new building at 1408 N. Long St.

They plan a grand opening celebration on Dec. 6, starting at 9 a.m. and running throughout the day.

What started as a part-time job to make a little extra money is now a thriving operation for the two men. They sell and install memorials, monuments, headstones, columbariums and other items. They also offer cleaning and repair services for existing monuments that have cracked or shifted.

Wyatt honored as caregiver of the month

Paula Wyatt has been named Caregiver of the Month for November at Home Instead Senior Care, 625 W. Innes St.

This award is given to an employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty in caring for seniors with whom they are entrusted.

Wyatt joined Home Instead in Salisbury in June. Originally from West Virginia, she lives in Rockwell with her husband and two children.

Victory Wealth in new China Grove office

China Grove — Victory Wealth Management Inc. recently opened in its new offices at 603 N Main Street.

Mary Moose, founder and president of Victory Wealth Management, bought the property in 2007 and had it rezoned for commercial use. An open house is scheduled for Dec. 2 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Albemarle — Robert O. Bratton is the new chief financial officer for Uwharrie Capital Corp.

Roger Dick, president and chief executive officer, said Bratton's background includes more than 30 years of executive level management of finance and accounting, operations, technology, human resources and other roles.

"We are extremely pleased that this remarkable individual has joined our team. Bob brings significant accomplishments, experience and most importantly a passion for the financial services business," Dick said.

Bratton earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was former chairman and board member on the Cabarrus College of Health Sciences. He serves on the boards of CMC NorthEast Medical Foundation and the Cannon School, where he was a former chairman. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church. He has served as a board member of Cabarrus Bank & Trust, banking subsidiary of Uwharrie Capital Corp.

He and his wife, Gail, live in Cabarrus County with their four children: Angela, Stewart, Rob and Betsy.

Hospitals now Magnet Health Care facilities

The American Nurses Credentialing Center has unanimously named all four Presbyterian Hospitals as Magnet Health Care facilities.

This designation applies to Presbyterian Hospital Hunt-ersville, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte and Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital.

Only 5 percent of all hospitals nationwide have earned this designation, which recognizes facilities that provide the highest level of nursing care.

"Every hour of the day, our nurses deliver top quality care to hundreds of patients in our facilities around the region," said Paula Vincent, senior vice president and chief nursing officer of Presbyterian Healthcare. "Earning this prestigious designation is a deeply humbling honor. Nurses and other clinicians consider Magnet designation as the gold standard for it means that our hospitals offer an environment where autonomy, control over practice and professional designation are emphasized."

Magnet designation is maintained for four years. During that time, the ANCC monitors facilities to make sure standards of care remain intact.

Lutheran Services gets $250,000 Duke grant

Trustees of the Duke Endowment have awarded a grant of $250,000 to Salisbury-based Lutheran Services for the Aging to support an electronic medical records system in nursing homes and assisted living residences.

Making information readily available can reduce medical errors by enabling nurses, physicians, and pharmacies to get a more accurate profile of the resident's condition or medical history.

The Duke Endowment in Charlotte has more than $3 billion in assets and has awarded more than $2.4 billion in grants since its inception in 1924.

Ford dealership offers sneak peak at F-150

Cloninger Ford in Salisbury will offer the public a "sneak peek" at the 2009 Ford F-150 truck between 5 and 7 p.m. Monday at the dealership, 511 Jake Alexander Blvd. South.

Refreshments will be available, and prizes will be given out to participants in the sneak peek, which allows the public a hands-on inspection of the new truck before its official showroom introduction.

Dealership personnel and an F-150 trainer will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate features of the new full-sized pickup.
