'Tis the season for giving, and many of you have given generously to this year's Christmas Happiness Fund.

Thanks to you, 3,576 needy children will have gifts to open on Christmas morning. May the thought of their bright, smiling faces warm your hearts this holiday season.

For those who haven't yet contributed, it was only because of the almost $40,000 carried over from last year's fund that the Rowan County Department of Social Services was able to provide vouchers for the 1,667 qualifying parents in a year of great need.

Contributions that come in from this point on will go toward next year's fund, so there's still time to donate in honor or memory of loved ones.

Please bring your Christmas Happiness contributions to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or mail them to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., Salisbury, N.C. 28145-4639.

Make checks payable to the Christmas Happiness Fund and indicate how you wish your donations listed.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
