KANNAPOLIS — A Landis woman was killed Wednesday afternoon after her car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with two other vehicles.
According to the Kannapolis Police Department, Dorothy White Bost, of 701 W. Rice St., Landis, was driving north on Cannon Boulevard near the Big Lots shopping center just after 3 p.m. when her 1995 Mazda Millenia crossed the median into the path of two other vehicles.
Bost, 58, died at the scene.
The drivers of the other vehicles — Marsha Jean Rho, of 5000 Audubon Lane, Concord, and Sharon Appelbaum, of 3324 Gray Moss Rd., Charlotte — were transported to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast with minor injuries. They were treated and released.
Kannapolis Police Chief Woody Chavis said Bost's car was demolished.
"It was one of the worst side impacts I've seen in my career," Chavis said.
According to Chavis, some of Bost's family members happened to drive by the scene of the accident and were distraught.
The Kannapolis Police Department is continuing its investigation of the crash.
