Area runners and walkers will get the chance to burn a few last minute calories on Thanksgiving morning.
The Forum is presenting the Second annual Butterball 5K at 8:30 a.m. with all proceeds going to Relay for Life. Entry fees are $20 before race day, and increase to $25 on race morning. Kids under 12 are admitted for free. All entrants will get a T-shirt and food following completion of the event. The top three overall winners, both male and female, will receive gas cards valued at $250, $100 and $50 respectively.
Participants will leave the front of the Forum and head south to a right turn on Airport Road, then another right on Airport Service Road, and the final right on Red Acres Drive. The last turn is a left back north on Highway 29 to the finish at the Forum. Runners and walkers can register at www.theforumfitness.com or they can stop by the Forum. Race Director Sacha Roberts says that the Butterball 5K is just one of the Forum's annual events that raise money for Relay for Life. She can be reached at the Web site or at 704-633-6638. Both the city of Salisbury and the Salisbury Rowan Runners will support the event on race day.
