Police nab man trying to pass phony money

An Atlanta man allegedly tried to pay for an iPod and Play Station 3 Friday with counterfeit hundred-dollar bills, leading to his arrest by Salisbury Police.

The incident happened at Walmart.

Aaron Justin Aikens, 21, whose address was given as the streets of Atlanta, was charged with possession of more than 5 counterfeit bills and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Aikens reportedly had six counterfeit hundred-dollar bills in his possession. Salisbury Officer R.K. rule investigated.

Aikens was placed under $30,000 bond, and his first appearance in Court will be Monday.

In other reports from the Rowan County Magistrate's Office, Salisbury Police charged Rene wilson Robinson, 46, of 928 W. Horah St. with three counts of misdemeanor larcenies in thefts oct. 27 from three downtown stores.

She is accused of taking shirts, flags and key rings worth $219.98 from Stitchin' Post gifts; two men's wallets worth $12.91 from Ultimate Sports Apparel; and two sun-catchers worth $29.50 from the Bible Book Store.

All of the businesses are on South Main Street.
