An Agner Road man was charged Wednesday with shooting at and strangling his wife.

John Ricky Eller, 53, 2065 Agner Road, is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center following the domestic incident.

According to information in warrants taken out by the Rowan Sheriff's Office, Agner shoved his wife, Wendy Kyles Eller, through a doorway, striking her repeatedly with his fist.

Another warrant charges that he fired shots at her with a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver, grabbed her by the neck and held her against a wall until she lost consciousness.

He is charged with assault on a female, assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats.
