KANNAPOLIS — The Cabarrus Health Alliance will provide H1N1, or swine flu, vaccinations from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at 1307 S. Cannon Boulevard in Kannapolis.

Public Health Director Dr. William F. Pilkington said the health alliance administered more than 2,300 doses of vaccine last week at its first H1N1 flu clinic.

Pilkington said vaccine will be available Friday for the following target groups, based on recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

- Pregnant women

- Household and caregiver contacts of children younger than 6 months of age (for example, parents, siblings and daycare providers)

- Health care and emergency medical services personnel

- People from six months through 24 years of age

- People aged 25 through 64 years who have medical conditions associated with a higher risk of influenza complication (such as diabetes, asthma, heart conditions, weakened immune system)

People who want the vaccine should bring their insurance cards, Medicare or Medicaid cards. No fee will be charged to the patient.

People present with flu-like symptoms are not eligible for vaccination.

As more vaccine becomes available, additional clinics will be held.
