A man filling a tanker-truck with liquid asphalt Monday afternoon sustained head injuries when he slipped and fell.

Salisbury firefighters and the Rowan EMS responded to the incident at Associated Asphalt on Jake Alexander Boulevard.

Battalion Chief Chris Kepley said the man, whose name was not available, fell approximately 12 feet sustaining a cut and knot on his head.

He used his cell phone to call personnel inside the plant and ask for help.

Kepley said the man was conscious and alert when transported to Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
