A parent has now been charged in the North Rowan High School cricket prank.
According to Spencer Police Chief Robert Bennett, Steve Thurston of 3580 Dixie Lane was charged with aiding and abetting injury to property.
Bennett said Thurston is the stepfather of Amanda Elizabeth Sisco, one of the eight students charged.
When Spencer Police reviewed the video from Hill's Minnow Farm, Thurston was seen with his stepdaughter, who was buying crickets.
He came to the police station Thursday to get his citation. Bennett said Thurston did not want to make a written statement.
Sisco is also the student who made and distributed the "hush, hush" T-shirts.
Bennett read from the official report, saying when Thurston was asked about other adults or teachers involved, he said he didn't want to cause anyone else any trouble.
The report said Thurston knew his stepdaughter was going in the school, but he didn't think it was a problem because he heard they "had done this every year."
Attempts to reach Thurston Friday were unsuccessful.
