Staff report

Salisbury firefighters responded to a fire at 706 S. Ellis St. just before 2:30 p.m. today.

Captain Bobby Fox, with the Salisbury Fire Department, said the fire appeared to be the product of a small electrical short in a powerline. The fire was contained mostly to the powerline, a tree and part of the roof, which were all adjacent to each other.

Employees from Duke Energy were also there to determine how the fire happened.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was injured in the small blaze.
