CHINA GROVE — Eddie Kluttz is the new police chief in China Grove. He starts Nov. 25, a town official said.
Kluttz retired from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office Nov. 1. He has been with the Sheriff's Office since 1986 and previously worked for the China Grove Police Department from 1979 until 1986.
The position had been vacant for several months following the firing of former chief Hodge Coffield.China Grove aldermen chose Kluttz from among finalists for the job and instructed Town Manager Bill Pless at a closed session Monday to make an offer.
