Two critical after wreck on Old Beatty Ford Road

A mother and daughter are hospitalized, both in critical condition, after a wreck Monday evening on Old Beatty Ford Road.

Trish Parson, 34, of 1616 North Chapel Street in Landis, was driving a 1992 Accord west on Old Beatty Ford near Phaniels Church Road just before 7 p.m. when the car ran off the right side of the road and along the shoulder and overturned, N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper C.F. Rogers said.

The passenger in the Honda, Connie Everhart, 49, of 135 Autumn Glen Drive, Rockwell, was thrown from the car through the sunroof, Rogers said.

The vehicle kept rolling over until it hit a utility pole and came to rest.

Everhart was not wearing a seat belt, Rogers said.

Parson, who apparently was, ended up in the passenger seat.

Both women were taken by ambulance to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. Parson was then taken by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Both women had their spleens removed, Rogers said. Everhart also has a fractured hip, pelvis and back, punctured lung and damaged liver. Rogers didn't know the nature of Parson's other injuries.

The trooper said Parson wasn't exceeding the 55 mph speed limit by much, if at all. She told troopers at the scene that she swerved to avoid another car in her lane, but investigators couldn't confirm that, Rogers said.
