A Salisbury Police officer remains on administrative duty this week pending the outcome of an investigation following a fight that broke out at LaBamba in August.

Officer Kareem Puranda continues to do office work, confirmed Police Chief Mark Wilhelm on Sunday.

The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into whether the officer crossed the line at a private party held at the club. A video filmed during the incident and subsequently posted online shows what looks to be the officer punching a partygoer.

A fight started outside the club and eventually moved to the inside. Salisbury Police officers were providing additional security for the event.

The incident has sparked much debate among people in the community, many asking for the officer to be fired.

Wilhelm said the SBI has not concluded its investigation.
