Walmart to celebrate changes, present grants at ceremony

Walmart has received a facelift over the past three months, and the final changes will be revealed Wednesday at a grand reopening.

Also during the ceremony Walmart will present $16,000 in grants from the Walmart Foundation to several local organizations, including Overton Elementary School, Rowan Cabarrus Early College and the Salisbury Fire and Police departments.

The newly renovated Walmart will offer customers a new layout, wider aisles, new shelving and better lighting.

The electronics department will offer interactive displays for Blu-ray (high definition discs), video gaming and other electronics.

"We listened to our customers and have redesigned the store to make shopping at Walmart even easier," said store manager Richard Anderson. "The new layout is easier to navigate, which will save our customers time as they shop for necessities."Also new is "Celebration Station," which features party supplies, greeting cards, helium tanks and gift wrap.

The grand reopening is Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. and is open to the public.
