When local, state, and federal law enforcement officers searched at the Landis home on Mount Moriah Road Monday, they were apparently looking for pornography purchased by mail or on-line.

Police found multiple digital recordings of a nine-year-old girl who was secretly recorded in the bathroom.

SBI agents charged Mitchell Perry Wright of 770 Mt. Moriah Church Road, China Grove, with three counts of secretly peeping into a room with a female and five counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

He is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $41,000 bond.

Capt. John Sifford said additional charges will be filed.

Officers contacted the Rowan County Department of Social Services related to multiple children in the house. Sifford said they were placed with a relative.

Sifford said the recording may have been made when Wright's children had friends over to spend the night.

Late Tuesday, officers discovered additional images of the girl apparently made a year or so earlier.

The recording were made by a secret recording device when Wright lived at 121 Myrtle Goodnight Road.

At this point investigators do not believe any of the recordings of the nine-year-old girl were sold or put on the internet in any fashion.

The victim's family has been contacted and the investigation continues.

Sifford said the U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement agents contacted the sheriff's Office citing an investigation of Wright related to child pornography.

Rowan Sheriff's Office and Salisbury Police assisted ICE agents with the search.

Sifford said investigators are looking at the possibility of other victims.

Anyone with information related to the investigation of Wright is asked to call Detective Clint Mauldin at 704-216-8700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
