Rose of Sharon celebration

Rose of Sharon Chapter #1, Order of Eastern Star will celebrate their annual Star Day Weekend with activities on Oct. 10 and 11. The week end activities will take place at White Rock AME Zion Church, Granite Quarry, where the Rev. Morgan Glenn is the pastor.

On Saturday, a prayer breakfast at 10 a.m. will end with a balloon launch to honor and remember loved ones. The breakfast will be held in the fellowship hall for a donation of $5 for the breakfast. Balloons are $2 each.

The donation can be given to any Rose of Sharon Sister or by calling 704-212-2068.

On Sunday, Oct. 11, Annual Star Day will be celebrated at 3 p.m. with Kimberly D. Kelsey, PhD, grand matron of St. Mary's Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, State of North Carolina, A.&A.S.R. Mason Inc. affiliated as the speaker.

S. Kay L. Grier serves as the worthy matron of the Rose of Sharon chapter and Raymond Johnson, Jr., serves as the worthy patron.
