Staff report

A Rockwell man is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot two of this horses Friday night.

George Stirewalt Sr., 180 Butterfly Lane — near the intersection of Old Concord Road and Old Beatty Ford Road— said the person went into the barn and shot both horses below the right eye.

Both have undergone emergency treatment at a Kannapolis veterinary clinic and are expected to survive.

Stirewalt said he anticipates the veterinary bill may run $4,000 or more. He is concerned that complaints about a neighbor's shooting could have sparked the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Rowan County Sheriff's Office at 704-216-8700

Both horses have survived - see video of the horses on the mend here.
