COOLEEMEE — The Cooleemee Civitan Club will host its third annual Fall Charity Tractor Ride and Show on Saturday.
The tractor ride tours southwestern Davie County. Along the way, participants enjoy fun and fellowship, have a snack and check out everyone's tractor. There will also be a tractor show for folks who don't want to make the ride but would like to show their tractors. The cost is $20 per entry and the fee is tax-deductible.
Entrants can choose where their money goes, and a recommended list of charities will be available.
Friends and neighbors can help sponsor entrants' rides and the top fundraiser will receive an award.
Sausage biscuits and coffee, hot dogs and drinks will be provided, as well as door prizes and Dennis Carpenter tractor catalogs.
Del McCullough will demonstrate his antique stone grinding mill, which is pulled with a hit-n-miss engine. He will give out free corn meal samples as long as they last.
The ride will start and finish at the Cooleemee Civitan property located just inside Cooleemee city limits on N.C. 801 north. Registration and staging will start at 8 a.m. The ride will leave Cooleemee at 9 a.m. and cover about 30 miles through rural Davie County with a couple of breaks along the way.
Ride rules, an application, the route and a list of charities can be found at www. cooleemeecivitans.com. For more information, phone 336-284-2975 or 336-284-4167 or e-mail cooleemeeciv@yadtel .net.
In case of rain, the event will be held Nov. 7.
