The Pregnancy Support Center's 13th Annual Walk for Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Rowan County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m.– 11:45 a.m.

Walker registration, free breakfast, music, games and activities are from 9–10 a.m. The program and non-competitive, 2-mile walk will be held between 10 and 11 a.m.

Following the walk, games will resume and door prizes and awards will be announced.

Prospective walkers may pick up sponsor forms at participating churches or the Pregnancy Support Center, 847 South Main St., collect donations and bring them to the Walk at 9 a.m.

The Pregnancy Support Center has been assisting families in Rowan County for more than 20 years. It provides help to those experiencing an unplanned pregnancy who seek an alternative to abortion, including free pregnancy tests, education about pertinent issues, appropriate referrals including adoption, provision of pregnancy and baby supplies, peer counseling and support, limited ultrasound services and various other services. The Pregnancy Support Center also provides sexual abstinence education presentations to schools and churches in the community.

All the services provided come from a network of churches and individuals in the community that provide both volunteer manpower and financial support.

The Walk for Life is one of the year's most significant fundraisers for the center and is an opportunity for the Christian community to make a positive statement about the sanctity of human life.

All those who want to express support for the center are encouraged to be at the walk at 9 a.m. for the start of the festivities.

This year's theme verse for the Walk for Life, Psalm 18:32-33, was chosen to highlight the continued theme — Reaching Higher: "It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places."

The center wants to continue the idea of not only Reaching Higher in its fundraising events financially but also Reaching Higher in all its efforts. People at the center truly believe this is obtainable and that they will see results in financial support, volunteer support, staff support and most of all in changed lives of clients. For more information, visit the Web site, www.RowanFriendsForLife.org, or call the Pregnancy Support Center at 704-633-7695.
