Bus route will change for Livingstone-J.C. Smith game Oct. 3

The Salisbury Transit Service will reroute the Salisbury Mall/Livingstone College bus route on Saturday, Oct. 3, to provide transportation to and from the Commemorative Classic Football Game.

Livingstone College and Johnson C. Smith University will celebrate the 117th anniversary of America's first black college football game as the rivals take the field at 1 p.m., at Alumni Memorial Stadium on the Livingstone College Campus.

Pre-game activities begin at 11 a.m. City buses will operate from 8:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Routes will start and end at the Salisbury Transit Transfer site, Depot Street between East Innes and Council streets.

The Salisbury Mall/Livingstone College bus will be rerouted along the following roadways with approximate arrival times as outlined:

The revised route will not travel behind Livingstone College or use Standish Street, Partee Street, Old Plank Road or Marsh Street

The revised route will use Brenner Avenue and stop at the corner of Brenner and Standish Street (about 5 minutes after the hour).

The revised route will travel to and proceed right onto Horah Street and stop at the following cross streets at these approximate times:

- Messner Street (6 minutes after the hour)

- Grim Street (7 minutes)

- Partee Street (8 min.)

- Lloyd Street (9 min.)

- Institute Street (10 min.)

- S. West Street (11 min.)

- S. Craig Street (12 min.)

- S. Caldwell (13 min.)

- Ellis Street (14 min.)

In celebration of the Commemorative Classic, the Salisbury Transit System will offer free fare for college students with ID, children under 18 years, senior citizens and those who are disabled.

City transit routes will return to normal schedule on Monday, Oct. 5.
