Update, 3:50 p.m.: Listed below are the road conditions and closures for the City of Concord.

Cox Mill Road - Still closed due to flooding.

Burrage Road between Beverly and Bradley - Reopened at 2:45 p.m.

Roberta Road at Stough Road - Still closed due to flooding

Brown at Cabarrus - Will be opened after the concrete barricades are removed.

Honeycutt Circle - Closed at back side of circle due to flooding.

Old Airport Road - Still closed due to flooding

3 Mile Branch off Branchview - The branch is mostly clear all the way to McGhee Park but the park remains closed.

Georgia Street at Cozart remains closed due to flooding.

Update noon: Motorists are encouraged to use extreme caution on all roadways due to water rising in areas around Concord.

Road closures are in effect in the following areas:

Burrage Road at Brachview - Bridge is out

Roberta Road at Stough

Brown at Cabarrus

Airport Road should open within one hour

Poplar Tent at Cox Mill has water on the bridge and is being monitored by NCDOT.

A shelter in Harrisburg is opening at Harrisburg United Methodist Church on Hwy 49.

Three neighborhoods in Harrisburg are in the process of being evacuated – College Downs, Middleton subdivision and Harrisburg Estates.

Anyone located along the Rocky River should continue to be cautious as waters are expected to continue to rise. River levels in the northern part of Cabarrus County should crest within 2 hours. River levels in the southern part of the county are expected to crest within 2- to 10-hours after that.

There have been a total of 14 swift water rescues involving motorists. No injuries are reported. Motorists should continue to use caution and not attempt to cross areas with standing water.

Many school children are out of school today. Parents are asked to prevent children from playing in standing water due to possible water contaminants and the possibility of sudden rushing water.

In addition to Harrisburg, shelters also are open at the Cannon Memorial YMCA in Kannapolis and at Concord Fire Stations No. 3, No. 7 and No. 8.

Two building collapses are being investigated:

· A commercial property at 625 Main Street in Concord experienced a roof collapse

· A home at 356 Dayvault Avenue moved off its foundation

No injuries were reported with these building collapses.

Update from Kannapolis:

Since yesterday, about 7 p.m., Kannapolis recorded 6.97 inches of rain.

Trash runs on a normal schedule unless streets are closed in the area.

Safrit Park is closed. “It will be closed at least a week due to flooding,” said Karen Whichard, communications director for Kannapolis.

Other parks are currently opened but are being evaluated and could close later.

Moose Road at Lake Fisher Bridge (near the Kannapolis Intimidators) is closed.

“We are continuing to closely monitor bridges, lake levels and streams throughout the city,” according to Whichard.

“All of our public safety personnel have been tremendous today in dealing with the weather situation and responding to various calls,” said Whichard.

Right now, the YMCA is the only evacuation center in the city, but the American Red Cross is assessing the situation and could open more.

Power outages have occurred in the 4000 block of Amsburry.

Power line down at Fairbluff and Hwy. 601

Building collapse has occurred at 626 Main St.

A large number of roads in Cabarrus County are closed due to flooding.

The area has received approximately 4 inches of rain in the past 24 hours. Nine swift water rescues have occurred to pull motorists from swelling creeks and rivers after their vehicles crossed flooded bridges.

Two mobile home parks – one on German Drive and one on Country View Road — are closed due to flooding. Residents in Timber Forest subdivision on Leatherwood Lane at Boulder Creek recently received a reverse 911 call alerting them to evacuate the neighborhood because of flooding.

Kannapolis Village, a nursing home, also was evacuated.

Cabarrus County Schools, and Cabarrus County Parks are closed today.

Kannapolis City Schools were on a two-hour delay.

Shelters are open at the Cannon Memorial YMCA in Kannapolis and at Concord Fire Stations No. 3, No. 7 and No. 8.

Even though the rain has decreased, the county could see increased flooding in western and southern parts of the county because Rocky River will soon crest and will result in more flooding as the water moves through its tributaries. It could be approximately eight hours before the waters begin to recede.

County officials caution motorists not to attempt to cross over standing water or flooded bridges.

The following roads are closed due to flooding:

- N.C. 73 at Dutch Road.

- Pharr Mill Road at Sequoia Hills Drive.

- Miami Church Road at Cold Springs Road South, part of road washed away.

- Culp Road at Gold Hill Road East.

- Gold Hill Road at Country Barn Road.

- Stallings Road at Tom Query Road and at the bridge.

- Farm Lake Road off Roberta Road.

- Red Bird Circle off of Old Airport Road.

- Trinity Church Road at Lauenour Road.

- Lentz Harness Shop Road at Dutch Road.

- Stough Road near Roberta Road.

- Barrier Road at Sindy Lane.

- Heidelberg Drive at Cold Springs Road.

- Cedar Road at Lower Rocky River Road.

- Morrison Road at Lower Rocky River Road.

- Bowman Barrier Road at the bridge.

- Cox Mill Road at the bridge.

- Mount Pleasant Road West at Halifax Road, bridge closed.

- Zion Church Road at Flowes Store Road.

- Morehead Road at U.S. 29.

- Earnhardt Lake Road at the pond.

- Bethlehem Church Road at Pless Road.

- Burrage Road at Bradley Road, bridge washed away.

- Highway 601 at Manor Road.

- Quail Hollow Road at Stallings Road.
