Man charged with downtown break-in faces more charges

A Salisbury man already charged with one downtown break-in faces charges for five more.James Edward Stroy, 46, of 226 N. Long St. was charged Wednesday with five counts of breaking and entering and five counts of larceny after a breaking and entering, according to arrest reports. He was released on $50,000 secured bond pending a first-appearance hearing today in Rowan County District Court.

Stroy was charged this past weekend with breaking into OK Wig at the corner of West Innes and South Main streets as well as breaking into a motor vehicle.

Wednesday's charges were as follows:

- Breaking into Shoe Repair at 105 E. Innes St. on July 3 and stealing a mini television, microwave, four pocketbooks, four pairs of shoes, six belts and United States currency with a total value of $260;

- Breaking into Rainy Day Books at 123 E. Innes St. on July 13 and stealing a Playstation 2 video game, Canon Z20 camera, Canon A220 camera, Pentax Spotmatic camera, U.S. currency, Apple iPod and a men's bike with a total value of $4,170;

- Breaking into Habitat for Humanity Store at 125 E. Innes on July 17 and stealing $25 in coins;

- Breaking into The Blue Vine at 209 S. Main St. on July 17 and stealing Peavy speakers, a monitor/scanner, 8-channel Yamaha mixers, Compaq computer and miscellaneous food and drinks valued at $2,534.75;

- Breaking into Creative Teaching Aids at 310 S. Main St. on July 26 and stealing coins, a cash register, postage stamps and a book of checks with a total value of $165.
