While they might turn up their noses at brussels sprouts and broccoli, most kids would jump at the chance to play the new Wii Fit.

The Farmers Market at the N.C. Research Campus will now offer fun video games and possibly offensive vegetables.

Starting today, the Farmers Market will have Wii fitness video games to entertain children while their parents shop for locally grown fruits and veggies.

Organizers will set up a Wii game and a plasma television inside one of the tents at the market, which opens at 4 p.m.

"We've been getting children coming to shop with their parents," said Phyllis Beaver, marketing director for the N.C. Research Campus. "We want them to feel welcome here."Wii Fit is an exercise video game that features about 40 different activities, including yoga poses and push ups.

Beaver said the Wii will appear every Thursday, and adults are welcome to try it out as well.

The Farmers Market is located between Transit Damaged Freight and the Perfect Choice on West Avenue. It's open Thursdays 4-7 p.m. through October.

Poll
What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
