LANDIS — A Chevrolet pickup with several passengers collided with a utility van at the intersection of South Kimmons Street and N.C. 153 Wednesday evening.

The collision was witnessed by neighbors.

"I saw it from my house," neighbor Todd Owens said. "The truck was running probably 45 to 50 mph and it never stopped. I thought the van was going to flip."

After the collision, the van spun into the other lane, facing the wrong direction, and the truck slid to a stop just inches from Richard McGuire's front porch.

Nathan Graham, the driver of the van, was treated by crews from Rowan EMS, as were those in the truck.

"This is the second wreck since Sunday," said Meredith Bare, another neighbor. "I don't know if it's because the stop sign is too far off the road or what."

What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
