Dr. Thomas Leitzel, vice president for the Charlotte campus and graduate enrollment management at Pfeiffer University, was recently named president of The Technical College of the Lowcountry (TCL) in Beaufort, S.C.

Selected from approximately 100 applicants, Leitzel was chosen by the TCL Area Commission to head the college, which serves nearly 1,900 students through 70-plus degree, diploma and certificate programs at three campus locations.

Since 1996, Leitzel has been an administrator at Pfeiffer, where he currently oversees enrollment management efforts of approximately 300 adult undergraduate students and 1,200 graduate students statewide. His 30-year academic career in the public and private sectors includes institutions in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina, including a stint as dean of business, health and technologies at Central Piedmont Community College.
