KANNAPOLIS — Police here are searching for a man they say shot another man in the face.

Quincy Larrell Kennedy, 17, whose last known address was 709 Chapel St., Kannapolis, is wanted by the Kannapolis Police Department for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a firearm into occupied property.

The charges stem from a shooting Wednesday night.

Cordaro Lewis Propst, 20, 539 Park St., Kannapolis, reported that three black men approached his car as he was backing out of his driveway then Kennedy shot him in the face.

According to Kannapolis Police Lt. Ken Jackson, Propst then drove himself to the police department and then to his aunt's home on Wilkie Drive, on the Rowan side of Kannapolis. There, his aunt called the police and drove Propst to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.

"Once at the hospital, that's when officers got the call," said Jackson. That call came at 1:55 a.m. Propst said he had been shot at approximately 11:50 p.m. His injuries were non-life threatening.

"When officers arrived at the hospital and spoke to the victim, he knew who the shooter was and was able to pass that information along to officers," Jackson added. Jackson said Propst didn't indicate that he knew who the other two men with Kennedy were.

According to Jackson, the two men have history.

"It's our understanding that there has been some confrontation with these individuals in the past," said Jackson. "The exact reason is unknown at this time."

The investigation continues. A search of the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department Web site did not indicate that Kennedy had been charged with anything in Cabarrus County in the past.

Anyone with information on Kennedy or his whereabouts is asked to call the Kannapolis Police Department at 704-920-4000.
