Marsh receives Ph.D.

Lynn Graham Marsh, principal of W.R. Odell Elementary School in Cabarrus County, recently received a Ph.D. in business administration from Warren National University.

Marsh also holds a master in school administration, a master in special education k-12 and a bachelor of science degree in elementary education k-4 and special education k-12, all from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

She was in the first North Carolina Principal Fellows Cohort at UNC-Charlotte in 1994 and is a summa cum laude graduate student.

She is the recipient of the Frances Fitzgerald Humanitarian Award and the Marie Antonelli Award for the highest grade-point average in her graduating class at UNC-Charlotte. She was one of Eckerd's 100 Outstanding Women in America and was selected as a special education inclusion ambassador to China for People to People, Washington, D.C.

Her research on teaching mathematics to special education students was published in the "Journal of Learning Disabilities Research and Practice."

Her doctoral dissertation was "The Principal as Transformational Leader: Implementing Total Quality/Continuous Improvement Elements in a Suburban Elementary School."

She and husband Donald have two children, Donna Marsh Greene and Matthew Marsh of Salisbury. She is the daughter of Sarah Graham and the late Walter A. Graham Jr.
