The American Red Cross announces that blood is needed immediately.

The summer months are a critical time for the blood supply. These are challenging months because donors are on vacation and preoccupied with other summer activities and collections tend to take a dip.

Volunteer donors are the only source for blood, and the Red Cross relies on these local heroes to help in the mission of saving lives. Please give the gift of life at one of the following sites. Phone numbers are provided for appointments, but walk-ins are also welcome.

All donors may register to win one of three $1,000 gas cards. All donors who give July 1–15 will also receive a free Red Cross "Camp Save A Life" T-shirt.

Reminder: 16-year-olds can donate blood, but they must have a parent or legal guardian with them and photo ID.

For more information, please call Sherry Smith at 704-633-3854, ext 105.
