Free patriotic concert Thursday at Village Park Amphitheater

Kannapolis — The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department announces another free concert as part of its summer events series.
On Thursday at 7 p.m., the Charlotte Symphony will be bringing the park alive with patriotic music at the Village Park Amphitheater, between West A and C streets off of Dale Earnhardt Boulevard. The Hip Cats, a jazz trio , will begin the night, with the symphony taking the stage at 8:15 p.m. The sky will be set ablaze with fireworks, too.Founded in 1932 by Spanish conductor and composer Guillermo de Roxlo, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra (CSO) has grown into one of the premier musical institutions in the Southeast, giving 115 performances each season and reaching an annual attendance of more than 250,000 listeners. Building on a 76-year tradition, Albert-George Schram returns to the Charlotte Symphony Pops for the 11th consecutive season to conduct a rousing series of concerts showcasing the best of American popular music.
The Charlotte Symphony is the largest and most active performing arts organization in the central Carolinas, with more than 100 professional musicians.
The evening is sponsored by Kannapolis Parks and Recreation, Ike's Construction, Radio Disney, Cabarrus Arts Council, Carolina NewsChannel 36, Afton Ridge, Site Solutions, Cabarrus County Public Library, Best of Care Assisted Living and Woolpert.
Throughout the summer, Ike's Construction Summer Entertainment Series presents a variety of family-friendly concerts. Upcoming performances include a beach music festival, Andrew Theilen Big Band and Too Much Sylvia.
Venue information
Parking for outdoor concerts will be available at the outer parking lots along Dale Earnhardt Boulevard with free shuttles to Village Park. The Village Park parking lot will be reserved for handicap parking only (valid handicap placard or license plate required). Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics are permitted and concessions will be available. Please, no pets, alcohol, grilling or glass bottles.
