Two face drug charges in separate incidents
E-mail to a friendTwo men have been arrested in separate incidents involving drug charges. Bryan Shondell Solomon, 31, of Cleveland, was charged June 26 with possession with intent to sell cocaine, possession with intent to sell marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest, according to a press release from the Rowan County Sheriff's Department. Randy Harold Parks, 55, of Kannapolis, was charged June 20 with manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to sell marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. On June 26, investigators with the sheriff's office and the Cleveland Police Department, searched Solomon's home at 416 E. Main St., Cleveland. During the search, Solomon tried to flee and was subdued with a Taser. Investigators found 4 grams of powder cocaine with a street value of $400, 22 grams of crack cocaine (street value of $4,400), 906 grams of marijuana (street value of $4,530), $7,651 in cash, a pistol and an AK-47 style assault rifle. Solomon is in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond, pending a first appearance in court on Monday. In the other incident, investigators got an anonymous tip on June 4 that Parks was growing marijuana on his property at 305 Copperhead Road, Kannapolis. Sheriff's deputies asked the N.C. Highway Patrol Air Unit to fly over the area to find the marijuana plants. Six plants were seen growing along the woodline of the property. Investigators with the Sheriff's Office and Salisbury Police Department found six plants, along with 15 plants growing next to the residence. Parks was home at the time and admitted the plants belonged to him. Parks consented to a search and investigators found eight bags of marijuana, weighing a total of 239 grams (street value of $1,195), in Parks' freezer. Investigators also found 42 firearms in the house. The 21 plants seized weighed a total of 581 grams (street value of $2,905). Parks was arrested on June 20. He was placed under a $3,000 secured bond in the Rowan County Detention Center. Comments (14)What do you think? Post your comment below.

Randy Parks : Monday, June 30, 2008 2:59 PMI just dont understand why this poor guy is made out to be a criminal. it seems he was growing pot for his own use. What does the firearms have to do with this story? Is it illegal to possess firearms. The sheriffs dept. should be proud of themselve for this major drug bust. How much tax money did it cost us for this major bust? Cops Suck!!!!

Go get the real criminals a dopers!
Report Abuseto: a nobody : Monday, June 30, 2008 12:54 PM It it simple, the one suspect tried to flee, therefor is a flight risk, just a thug. The second, consented to a search, which meant he was cooperative, not a thug. Both were wrong in their activity.

Injustice, Injustice, Injustice : Monday, June 30, 2008 11:03 AMHow can a man face a higher charge for maintaining and dwelling, intent to sell and possession, and two guns. I assume the guns were not registered and I know that crack is always a trump up charge because blacks dwindle in rock form and whites deal with soft form which is cocaine. Manufacturing and 42 guns I could care less if they are legal or not. It's not like he was going to have the kids over to have a super soaker fight on a hot sunny day. He had so many guns they didn't even list what they were. $50,000 bond versus $3,000 bond. I don't believe the charges differ that much for it to be such a substantial difference.
