Staff report

A Kannapolis man has been charged with taking thousands of dollars from his employer through forged checks.

Ricky Leon Sweatt Jr., 25, of 1117 Edgewood Ave., has been charged with one felony count of embezzlement and nine counts of forgery.

Rowan Sheriff's Deputy G.S. Henline specified the checks were drawn on Graham Archery, located on U.S. 29 near China Grove.

According to warrants issued by the Rowan County Magistrate, Sweatt signed Sonya L. Graham's signature on the checks. Most ranged between $300 and $400.

Sweatt's bond was set at $1,000. He is to appear in Rowan County District Court Thursday.
