Police say man was attacked in his home, injured

A Salisbury man remains in critical condition after he was discovered by authorities bleeding profusely and unable to clearly speak.

Jon Ross Gregory, 20, of 806 N. Main St. was on the telephone with his mother, Martha, when the Salisbury Police arrived at his home late Saturday night.

Police had a hard time understanding Gregory, who apparently suffered a blow to the head with an unknown weapon.

He was able to convey to police someone entered his home and stole a PlayStation III. The incident occurred around 11 p.m.

Authorities said two men who may be connected to the attack were spotted in the area in a red or burgundy Ford Taurus.

No arrests had been made as of late Monday.

There was no sign of forced entry, a department report said.

Gregory suffered a skull fracture, bleeding on the brain and bruising to the layers of his brain, a report said.

Police say Gregory was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center in critical condition and later transferred to Carolinas Medical Center.

A spokesman for Carolinas Medical said the hospital has no record of Gregory.

Gregory had been at home on electronic house arrest. Court records indicate he was on house arrest for breaking and entering motor vehicles, offenses he was charged with in July 2008.
