Senate candidate at Juneteenth celebration
U.S. Senate candidate Kay Hagan, the Democratic nominee in North Carolina, will attend the Juneteenth celebration today in Salisbury.
Hagan, a state senator from Greensboro, is expected to be at Kelsey-Scott Park around 10:45 a.m. The park is located at 1920 Old Wilkesboro Road.
Also today, Hagan will be addressing a Rockingham County Democratic Party breakfast in Reidsville and will be attending an event at Kiwanis Park in Hickory over lunch.
The seat of U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., is up for election in November.

Senator Dole : Sunday, June 15, 2008 12:53 AM
Senator Elizabeth Dole was born and raised in Salisbury. Her husband, Senator Bob Dole, was the Senate Majority Leader from Kansas. I have enjoyed Senator Dole's ads during the past few weeks. I do not think Mrs. Hagan has the record or the experience to represent our state in Washington. I am leaning heavily towards the Senator with my vote.

Now this shows how smart some citizens of Salisbury/Rowan really are! No wonder you didn't put a name to that response...I wouldn't have either. She's from Salisbury unfortunatly, and has done nothing for the state as a senator. WELCOME Kay Hagen and best of luck! I hope you win! (I am going to give the annonimous responder the benefit of the doubt and hope they just moved here!)

Dorothy, Not Dole is From Kansas : Saturday, June 14, 2008 1:56 PM
That was a cute comment, though. Study your local history and you will find it rich with the community contributions of the Hanford family. Liddy's husband, Robert Dole, is indeed from Kansas, but we from Salisbury are proud to claim her as our own. She and her family are pillars of this community.

Why is she running for Elizabeth Dole's seat, isn't Dole from Kansas?
