Teen remains critical after Thursday crash

FAITH — A teenager seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection Thursday afternoon remained in critical but stable condition Sunday evening at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord, a hospital spokesman said.

Chandler Spry, 16, of 6953 Faith Road, was a passenger in a Jeep Cherokee being driven west on Crescent Road by Logan Arey, 16, of 9159 Stokes Ferry Road, according to Trooper M.E. Heon of the N.C. Highway Patrol. Arey was treated at CMC-NorthEast after the accident and released Friday.

Heon said Thursday that Arey apparently failed to yield the right of way and stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Faith, Artz and Crescent roads and collided with a Nissan Titan being driven south on Faith Road by Matthew Hill, 21, of 1259 Cottonwood, Rockwell.

Hill was taken by ambulance to Rowan Regional Medical Center and released, a hospital official said after the accident.

No charges had been filed on Thursday.

Assistant Chief Kevin Holshouser of the Rockwell Rural Fire Department and Dot Caskey, who lives near the intersection, said it is the site of frequent accidents.
