The Rowan County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an infant girl who died at her family's Salisbury home.

Capt. John Sifford said Wednesday that Sheriff's Deputy B. Benfield responded to 560 Deck Lane after someone there called 911 at 5:30 a.m. on May 29.

The deputy met with the infant's parents, Jamie Franks, 30, and Christopher Webb, 25, who said they found the 2-month-old not breathing.

"Any time there is a non-attended death, there is an investigation, meaning, anyone not in the hospital, we are called out," Sifford said.

Franks told investigators the baby cried at 2:30 a.m. and that after she and Webb repositioned her, they all went back to sleep.

Rockwell Rural First Responders and Rowan EMS responded to the Deck Lane home.

Actually, I am very glad the police are investigating this case. I also know these people and I was very saddened by the doll size casket of this little girl. When an innocent life is lost to what seems to be suspicious circumstances, justice needs to run its course.

There is a reason why there are investigations in situations like this. If the general public could see what our police officers, prison officials and DSS workers see on a daily basis they would not only understand the investigation, they would encourage it. Not all children die from SIDS. It's better to be safe then sorry. I believe we owe it to the child and the parents to prove the truth. I would rather be proven innocent through investigation then to be constantly defending myself against ignorant people because there was no investigation.

If you knew these 2 people. You would know there is something not right. I do and have heard 3 or 4 different stories from them. So it's right that there is a investigating going on.

It is bad enough these people just lost their precious infant---probally due to SIDS--- and they have to put up with all these nosey people in their home trying to figure out why the child is dead. I wish the officials would leave these people alone and let them grieve over their child first.
