Social studies winners

Parents and members of the community joined students and faculty at Corriher-Lipe Middle School for a day-long fair presenting this year's countries of Latin America projects by the social studies students of Gary Rhyne.

Class project winners and their countries include:

First block class: Jennifer Ballard, Aruba, first place; Ashley McGee, Italy, second place; Cierra Hall, Brazil, third place.

Second block class: Jonathan Lambert, Scotland, first place; Ashton Schoen, Dagestan, Russia, second place; and Lisa Jones, Italy, third place.

Third block class: Abigail Raffaldt, Jamaica, first place; Nathan Shorter, Germany, second place; and Austin Causey, Greece, third place.

Fourth block class: Leah Morton, The Bahamas, first place; Amanda Borras, Germany, second place; and Jordan Wise, France, third place.

GQ Star Students

Granite Quarry Elementary School recently recognized the following students as May Star Students:

Pre-kindergarten: Xander Mock.

Kindergarten: Brendan Hawley, Kaitlyn Blackwell, Seth Eagle, Phillip Boggess, Alexis Smith, Donald Rose, Zachery Shepherd and ShyTaisha Johnson.

First grade: Kadin Gainey, Gracie Hudson, Alarie Springer, Jermiah Fickle, Kirsten Michael, Oscar Lazo, Jadeah Bennett, Yazmine Sanders, Jacob Downing, Tawnie Stanley and Mitchell Toliver.

Second grade: Zachary Huddleston, Kayla Spencer, Jordan Fritz, Austin Kowaleski, Mykel Jones, Joel Alejandre, Trevor Scruggs, Oshaun Robinson and Aaron Shaver.

Third grade: Cortney Jones, Myron Sanders, Samantha Lushbaugh, De«Andre Gray, Keith Foster, Cecilia Garduno, Ashely Lushbaugh and Nina Troutman.

Fourth grade: Alexus Bennett, Tyler Shultz, Ashon Wylie, Victoria Safrit-Valley, Terez Tucker and Aimee Casper.

Fifth grade: Mariela Albarran, Tyler Boltz, Lily Poole, Zaria Houston, Kristen Parker, Iona Wilson, Taylor Rogers and Noah Ward.

N.C. Senate page

Madison Tucker Osborne recently served as a page in the N.C. Senate.

Osborne was sponsored by Sen. Stan Bingham and appointed by Senate President Pro Tempore Marc Basnight.

A student at West Rowan High School, he is the son of Terry Osborne and Teresa Lanning of Salisbury.

Cleveland Citizens

Cleveland Elementary School recently recognized the following students as May Good Citizens:

Kindergarten: Jason Kepley, Nicholas Freeman, Anna Owensby, Gladys McDaniels, Layla Stirewalt and Lathan Hager.

First grade: Nathan Bowden, Razeeke Everhart, Jorge Molina and Ariel Josey.

Second grade: Rebekka Sommer, Skye Moya, Brandon Mattison, Michelle Anderson, Courtney Bogle and Hannah Mowery.

Third grade: Skylar Hildebrand, Christina Sims, Madie Wise, Briana McEwen and Trevor Limerick.

Fourth grade: Khaila Hall, Carolyn Miller, Karena Rankin, Joselyn Lemus, BreAnna Wilson and Peyton Nance.
