Police arrested a Salisbury man Wednesday on charges of breaking into a female family member's home and assaulting her.

Willie Glenn Woodard III, 28, of 136 Ashley Drive, faces a $5,000 bond. He is charged with second-degree trespassing, breaking or entering, injury to real property and assault on a female after an incident on May 16.

Police think Woodard, who is on probation for previous charges, broke into Teresa Woodard's house at 136 Ashley Drive after she had told him not to be there, according to an arrest warrant in the Rowan County Magistrate's Office.

Woodard assaulted her "by grabbing her by the throat and slamming her into a wall," the arrest warrant states.

Woodard damaged the front door and screen door of the home, according to the warrant.

What do you think of the legislature putting parts of Rowan County in three different congressional districts and two state Senate districts?
  • I like it; Rowan will have more members of Congress and the state Senate
  • I don't like it; it's hard enough to figure out who my congressman is
  • I don't care about politics, so it makes no difference to me
